I have worked in the field of cancer and palliative care for 25 years in hospice and hospital settings in the UK and Ireland in a variety of clinical roles. In my current role, as a Consultant Nurse I lead the Trust Acute Oncology Service and I am the Lead Nurse for Cancer and Palliative Care. I have various interests within cancer and palliative care including person centred care and promoting best practice in the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis and good oral care.
“As the survival rates for cancer continue to improve and new and innovative treatments appear we are still faced with the reality of supporting patients with the potential toxicities of anti-cancer therapies. The work of the UKOMIC group aims to support patients with cancer and the professionals that care for them by promoting best practice in the care, assessment, prevention and treatment of oral mucositis.” | Dr Barry Quinn (MSc, BD, Bacc Phil, RN)
