I have worked in the field of haematology for 17 years initially as a staff nurse, then a chemotherapy specialist and have been in my current role since 2003. NHS Grampian covers a large geographical area in the north-east of Scotland as well as providing specialist care for the Orkney and Shetland Islands. I am a founding member of the East Scotland Haematology Nurse Group and have various interests within haematology, one of which is modernising the approaches we have in the prevention and treatment of OM.
“OM is a complication of treatment that still requires our attention. On the whole we've got to grips with the more well known issues like nausea and vomiting. It would be good to reach the same stage with the prevention and treatment of OM for our patients. The work of UKOMIC is just one way in which we can begin to achieve this.” | Mr Jeff Horn
